Preparing for the Edition with Lisa Hasegawa
Local book artist Lisa Hasegawa will teach a special one-day workshop on preparing to create an edition of hand-made books. A seasoned veteran to editioning, Lisa has completed numerous books under her imprint ilfant press.
Through discussion and hands-on instruction students will learn step by step how to make the edition-making process go smoothly and successfully. Topics will include dummies, colophons, paper, printing and binding methods, enclosures, jigs, prospectuses, and documentation. Students will build jigs and create two small editions in class and are encouraged to come with questions and works in progress

Instructor Bio:
Lisa Hasegawa graduated from the University of Washington with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Printmaking and received her Master of Fine Arts in Book Arts/Printmaking from The University of the Arts in Philadelphia. Lisa teaches letterpress at Pratt Fine Arts Center in Seattle and creates artist’s books and letterpress prints under the imprint ilfant press. Her work has been exhibited nationally and has received several awards; including a Grant for Artist Projects (GAP) from Artist Trust in 2008 and Printmaking Instructor of the Year from Pratt in 2007. Her artist’s books and prints are collected nationally in both public and private collections. Her work has been published in two books and can be seen online at ilfant.com.
SCBA Cancellation/Refund Policy:
- If your class is canceled by SCBA, you will promptly receive a full refund.
- If you cancel more than 21 days prior to the first day of class, you will receive a full refund.
- If you cancel 21 days or less before the first day of class, you will receive a credit for the amount of the original class to be used for any future SCBA class offered within one year from the date of the cancellation.
- If you cancel less than 48 hours prior to the first day of class, no credit or refund will be granted. However, it may be possible to obtain handouts for the class pending approval from the instructor and SCBA.
- If you do not appear in class and we have not heard from you, no credit or refund of any kind will be given.
