Instructor Bio:

Karin V. Chickadel has always loved to make things. Her love of creating led her to study art in high school, then college and then graduate school. After working in sculpture for some years, she discovered the niche of artist’s books while earning her MAAT at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She went on to focus her studies in book making at Columbia College Chicago, where she earned her MFA in Book and Paper Art in 2005. While at CCC, she began teaching others basic binding methods. She found she truly enjoyed passing on this craft she had become so passionate about. After graduating her MFA program she continued teaching book arts in school age programs and community centers. Today she lives and works in the Seattle area with her husband and young child. She is currently working on a series of paper cut artist’s books and coming up with inspiring book making classes for anyone who is interested! Her website is at www.craftyourownbooks.com
