Beaded Leather Journals with Painted Pages w/ Tamara Gerard

Date: Saturday & Sunday, May 22 – 23, 10 am – 5 pm
Location: 2100 Building (in Rainier Valley), 2100 24th Ave. S., Seattle, WA [map]
Cost: $260

This two part workshop is suitable either for beginning or experienced book artists who wish to learn a beautiful decorative technique.  On day one, we will prepare a supply of magnificent painted papers using diluted acrylic interference and metallic paints and color washes, as well as experiment with several surface techniques. The resultant papers will be completely covered on both sides with brilliant colors and breathtaking effects. On day two, when your papers are thoroughly dry, we will assemble them into 12 sections (signatures), into which is inserted plain text paper (for journaling). In the process of sewing the 12 signatures into the leather cover, you will be beading a decorative design on the spine. A simple closure will be made with a button and ribbon tie. At the end of the second day, each student will leave with a beautiful book which can be used as a journal or small sketchbook.

Registration is closed.
