Welcome to the Home of Book Arts in Seattle and the Pacific Northwest

Seattle Center for Book Arts was founded to provide education in the creation of handmade books and to promote the appreciation of them and all that is required to fashion them. We offer classes and workshops in a range of traditional and experimental bookbinding techniques, as well as letterpress printing, papermaking and other related arts. You are invited to browse through these pages and discover something that inspires you. Take a class, attend a workshop or event, or volunteer with SCBA. Come connect with our community of artists!

In addition to providing classes, SCBA is a non-profit organization working hard in the community. We partner with the Seattle Office of Arts and Culture and the Seattle Public Libraries to put on free workshops for children, teens and adults. Each year we produce Seattle’s beloved and deliciously pun-filled Edible Book Festival. You can also find us at the King's Books Wayzgoose in Tacoma, at the School of Visual Concepts Wayzgoose, the NW BookFest and points in between.

We invite everyone from newcomers to established artists to take part in the learning, the fellowship and the exchange of ideas in the book arts community of the Pacific Northwest.
