Welcome to the Home of
Book Arts in Seattle and the Pacific Northwest
Seattle Center for Book Arts (SCBA) was formed to promote education in hand book binding and related art forms. We encourage fellowship and the exchange of ideas in the book arts community. We invite you to browse through these pages, and to connect with our community of artists. Take a class, attend a workshop, or volunteer for SCBA.
In the past year, Seattle Center for Book Arts
has expanded its programming to include youth and community outreach, on top of our full schedule of classes and workshops. We have donated book-themed easter eggs to community egg-hunts, offered workshops for students and youth, and are partnering with organizations like the Seattle Public Library to put on free workshops for kids.
SCBA strives to be an active member of the community, both for book artists and for the general public. We host a booth at Seattle’s
annual Bumbershoot Festival every year, providing daily hands-on
workshops on simple bookbinding techniques which are immensely popular. We have been at the Seattle Antiquarian Book Fair, the King's Books Wayzgoose, and Showcase Tacoma. Each year we also throw Seattle's book arts party, the Accordion-A-Thon.

2nd Annual Accordion-A-Thon, Seattle’s Book Arts Party
Thanks to everyone who came out and made this year's Accordion-A-Thon a huge success. We raised over $2500 for our community outreach and scholarship funds.
SCBA partners with Seattle Public Libraries for a series of FREE youth workshops
In 2008 SCBA continues a year-long partnership with the Seattle Public Libraries. Drop-in youth workshops, funded in part by 4Culture, and the Seattle Mayor’s Office of Arts and Cultural Affairs, will introduce Seattle youth to various bookbinding techniques and formats. More information coming soon!
